Clean up in Aisle Three...Another
not so great recent moment.
*Spending a few hours Saturday and Sunday at the laundrymat. Saturday, Kate, Em and JR went with me. Sunday, Aus & Jake went with me. Our trip today was an eventful one. We had loaded a triple loader with our jeans and started it up. We noticed it was dribbling some water. I went over to it and the water started to trickle a bit faster. Soon, there was a steady stream. Jacob and I took turns holding the door closed while we waited for an attendant to come throw an emergency switch or something. Noticing the ever increasing water puddle on the floor, another lady came over to offer assistance. She told me that she and her friend had to kick the door to get it to close when they used it. I thought for a
very brief nanosecond about doing just that but decided against it. Could you imagine
me hiking my leg up, kicking the door, while standing in a puddle of water? I think not! My luck, I'd be laying flat on my back like a turtle, unable to move. Except the water would be pouring all over me. Not a chance! So, she offered to kick the door.
Bonus! I get to watch someone else fall on their butt! Jacob is holding the door closed but since she's afraid she'd kick his hand, she tells him to let the door go so she can kick it. He lets go and so does the door, releasing several gallons of water to go splashing all over the floor! *OOPS* The attendant
finally comes out to see the
flood mess and exclaims, "Oh my Gosh..." (not using gosh though!) I thought about saying, "If you had answered the buzzer the first time I rang, you wouldn't have to use a mop and bucket." However, every single blanket in our house has been washed and is now waiting to be sealed away in a spacebag. I've never used one of them so I'm anxious to try it! If it will keep the kids from using our fourty eight blankets and throws to make their hide out forts, I'm all for it!
