Officially, in less than 6 days and 18 hours, I will be under the knife. I had my preop surgical consult with the nurse and also made a trip to speak with the anesthesiologist today. Everything is all set for next week. They gave me the typical speech of nothing to eat or drink after midnight (even though my surgery is set for 12:30 the next afternoon). I am allowed to take my vicodin up until 8:30am but nothing after that. Upon arrival at the hospital, they will insert the IV and immediately start Versed to keep my nerves calm. The anesthesiologist said 1-2mg would be ordered. Bless his heart, he even wrote the order for it before he left the room!!! Talk about service. He assurred me that they'd do all they could to make me comfortable and keep nausea at bay. I'm very thankful for that. They said the surgery could take a little extra time if they found anything further to take care of and because they were doing the bladder repair. They wanted me to reassure those waiting for me not to be alarmed if they were not out on time. They said I would be in the recovery area for about 3 hours and then moved to my room where I'll be staying. So, sometime after dinner, I hope to be in a room.
My nerves are shot. My mind is racing. My laundry is the size of a chain of mountains. Our tub faucet is leaking now and needs replaced. It's one thing after another and I'm ready to scream. But...I'm pushing forward! I'll be okay.
Until next time...
