Loving & Living

Today was a nice day! I ventured out for a couple hours and took Miss Kate to pick out some flip flops. She wouldn't settle for just a pair of sandles. She wanted something that "went between her toes." So we searched and searched until we found the perfect pair. And of course, then we picked up the same pair for her sister as well. We had a great few hours together, just the two of us. We giggled. We sang. We had lunch. We even practiced our math on the way home. It started as a game, really. I said something along the lines of, "Katelyn, if mommy bought three apples and you ate one and I ate one, how many apples would we have left?" I'd ask two questions and she would then ask me two questions. We used our fingers to help us figure it out, if needed. She surprised me as she figured out even harder story problems than I thought she could. (Thanks Mrs. Arnold for giving her such a solid math base). Tonight, she even gave her daddy and a friend a couple math problems to work out. We used apples, monkeys, rhinos, shoes, cheese, signs, and so many other things in our story problems. It was too cute.

Once we got home in the early afternoon, I painted the girls' toenails and they went with daddy to go show G'ma & G'pa. They were thrilled!! They looked adorable in their little flip flops with their right foot painted a teal blue color and their left foot painted an emerald green. But hey, that's the colors they wanted!!

We took the kids for icecream this evening. Jonathon thought he hit it big time. He was so thrilled with his ice cream cone. All was wonderful until he discovered that he could tip it upside down and watch the drip...drip...drip...of the icecream. Silly boy. I took way too many photos of him with his first cone so I hope you don't mind if I share a portion of them here. :) By the way, he is walking, running, and getting into all kinds of trouble. It's about time!! He will be 17 months old on Saturday!! Where does the time go??

I absolutely love this photo & the next one. It's almost like he's telling you he'll knock you out of you try to take his icecream cone!!

We visited with some friends briefly this evening and then headed home. The kids all went to bed and the hubby even crashed at midnight. Must be we were all a bit more tired than we thought. Well, that is, except myself who is still up at almost 1am.

So, I hope you're able to get some rest. The weekend is quickly approaching and I'm sure will be filled with many plans. And considering it's Friday...that means we will be watching the races!!

Until next time...

Oh Katelyn knows PLENTY of math. She always did really well with addition story problems. She is also really good with more than and less than to compare groups or numbers. She is quite a mathematician.
