The conversation went very well, only resulting in two giggles.
We have always chosen to be open with the kids when it came to explaining things to them. This was no exception. We have had several talks that were sparked by a television ad, a movie, or something they saw or heard at school. However, I wasn't quite prepared this time. Of course, we handled it with grace, honesty and some slightly uncontrollable snickers (when he wasn't around, of course). He was very open and appeared to be very comfortable during our one on one heart to heart chat. Thank goodness I have a few more years before I have to take on the next child!!
Before I sat down with him, I consulted the internet for a little help. Obviously I know all about those birds, bees, and... but how to relay the information he needed to know, I wasn't so sure about. If I thought Tim's response of "It's part of growing up" was good enough, I would have let it rest. But, ohhh no, that was not an option, in my eyes. So as I'm reading over this information, I keep noticing the same thing. "Beginning around the age of 12-15, boys will...."
Uh, my son is ten not 12-15.
Oh boy, someone stop my kids from growing up so fast!!! I'm not ready for this!

Oh boy...good luck with that one Becky! I feel your pain. We too would rather the information come from us than others at school etc. But, at only 9 years old, there are some things I'm just not sure she needs to know. I did find a REALLY good book by American Girl. When I think it's the right time, I'll give it to her. Maybe they have something similar for boys? (Ha! We'll probably never know. :)
Boys = Tim's Job! :-)
J. has so graciously bowed out of any of those talks since we have only "girls." I think it is only fitting, don't you??
