I admit, I'm missing the late summer nights where it was me and my blanket snuggled up on the couch watching whatever I wanted. Now I'm lucky if I'm able to be anywhere close to my blanket for fear of falling into a deep hibernation and missing important study time or lectures. So, I continue on. And to think...this is just the beginning of this term.
This term is so important to me. I am taking three classes that I have taken at one point or another in the last 2 years. I'm aiming to 4.0 each of them this time around. I must at minimum achieve a 3.5 in order to have a guaranteed spot in the nursing program beginning the fall of '08. I have completed all prereqs as well as additional "recommended" classes. I received my associates degree last December. However, I still did not have enough points to get into the nursing program. The program is highly competetive, not only where I'm attending but at other colleges throughout the state as well. With the shortage of nurses, you would think that they would open the nursing programs up to allow more applicants into the program. That is not the case. On average, there are over 500 applicants who apply to my specific program. Approximately 300 of them actually have the qualifications completed in order to apply to begin with. Out of those 300, approximately 60-80 are admitted into the program. (my booklet isn't near me at the moment to verify the exact number) So, as you can see, several "qualified" applicants are turned away each year. At my particular college, they accept applications for the program one time each year with a due date of March 1. So, that means that after this semester, I will have a spring, summer and possibly a fall semester to fill with classes. I'm hoping to be accepted to begin in the Fall of '08 rather than the Spring '09. If that happens, I will take classes in the Spring '08 and take the summer off again.
I'm currently leaning towards the EMT academy. I was actually enrolled into the program in the Fall '05 but found out I was pregnant! Considering my past pregnancy experiences, I had to withdrawl. So, perhaps I will give it another try. If I don't go that route, I will look at classes that will transfer out for my bachelors. I don't want to waste time taking something that isn't for my field of study!
It's now after the 1AM hour (no clue why the time stamps on these posts never line up). I have completed my two assignments for the evening and am about to turn into bed. It's actually going to be an early night for me tonight. Thank goodness for small miracles!
Speaking of small miracles... Our friends who had their baby a week ago were finally able to bring their princess home after 6 long days in the RNICU. She still faces some hurdles as they prepare for an upcoming heart surgery. However, she is doing well and is home! Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers for them. They truly do appreciate each and every one of them.
I hope you're each all snuggled in bed, resting peacefully!
Until Next Time,
G'Night

Hey Becks. yes I had a c-section with my first one. during that pregnancy they found that my placenta was presenting low and the baby would not drop. This time around since I still have clotting and the placenta hasn't reattached the doctor refuses to even let me contract as it can cause me to hemhorage and so on. However I found my first csection to be simple and so easy and no problem to heal from. in fact I was up an at em after two days so i'm not realy too worried about this!
