Sunday July 6 @ 1:25 AM

Well, we’re slowly getting moved in to the new house. Things are coming together and it’s starting to feel a little more like home. The computer just made it here. It’s been a lot of work but I can start to see a little more light at the end of the tunnel.

I’ve wanted to journal almost every night now but have been unable to do so. I didn’t have the energy to journal the old fashioned way. You know, with pen & paper. I’ve had a head full of thoughts racing each and every night with no way to express them. Hopefully now, I’ll at least be able to type them up, save them and post them later when I finally have internet access.

We are suppose to have our phone hooked up on the 7th. I realize now that it’s technically less than 24 hours away. Unfortunately, we will still be on dial up service for the internet. I’ve called around to see if cable or high speed internet is offered here and unfortunately, it is not. That’s okay. At least we’re still able to get online via dial up. We can’t have it all now, can we?

The kids are becoming more adjusted as the days go by. They love the space they have to run, play, ride bikes, and just do the things that kids do. We are so very thankful to have found something like we did. We feel comfortable here and so do the kids.

The girl’s room is small but sufficient. It’s just the two of them. They have a futon, their storage shelf with the bins, their dresser, a small closet, a TV stand, and their bench. They don’t have a lot of toys, which helps. We are looking for a twin/twin bunk bed set for them but for now, they will just use their futon. The first night we were here, I had their room unpacked, set up and decorated. We found these little decorative sticker sets for both the boys and the girls that I used. I’ll have to take photos once I’m up and running again.

The boy’s room is very large. It works out for them as there is three of them. The older boys are sharing a queen bed and the younger is on a toddler bed beside them. They each have their “boxes” that they are able to store their secret treasures or toys in. They are their very own private space that nobody is able to get into without permission (except us, of course). The older two each have their very own “side” which consists of a built in shelf and drawers. It’s pretty neat, actually. The little one has his dresser, which he doesn’t get into anyways. The boy’s also have their very own ½ bath, which they are super excited about. They have a walk in closet they can use but it’s not inside their bedroom. We have been using it for our winter items mostly. They don’t seem to mind.

More good news! We’ve managed to find all five cats as of tonight. The first night, we had the two kittens, Black Jack and Snickers and their feline “brother,” Sonic. The second night, I was able to bring Momma cat home. Finally, tonight, we managed to find our missing Burlios and bring him home to the family. It was such a happy reunion. Well, minus taking a tick out of his neck.

Dusty, the dog, is very content. He walks around as if he owns the place. He has become protective just as he was at the other house. We had a friend who showed up without us here and he apparently was ready to protect his territory. He hasn’t expressed any type of sadness over being here so I’ll take that as a good sign.

Tomorrow (or today, since it’s after 1:30am) we will be bringing Pluto and White Wing over. These are the two geese that were given to the kids. Jacob and Austin were able to choose the names. Each day we have gone back to let them out and let them play around in the yard. Jonathon loves to chase them. There’s just something that screams “adorable” when you see a two year old running after them screaming “eww-toe.” Edited: The geese haven't made it here yet!

We have a little bit more to do around the house. We need to spend a good part of the day over there tomorrow and box up everything that is left and get it out of there. At least get it here and figure out what to do with it all once it’s here. While it’s not a long drive between the two houses, it’s still a drive and doing it multiple times a day is starting to get old.

Tim has been on shut down all week so we’ve all been able to make the adjustment together. I am so very thankful for that. I have felt so overwhelmed this week. There were times that I wasn’t sure if I was coming or going. The kids just rolled along with whatever we were doing as if they had no cares in the world. I’m thankful for that too. But now, I’m ready to get back to a routine and start the kids doing the summer schooling we had originally planned to do.

We’ve ran into a few glitches this week. Nothing major but each one gave me a few more grey hairs. We’ve had a sudden water leak in the new house as well as the old house, both in very odd places to have a leak. We’re still trying to figure out how in the heck each one could have happened. My hope chest that Tim made me when we were dating was broken today when a shelf fell over. It busted the corner off of the hope chest lid. This sent him into a tailspin and he decided to throw a fit like a two year old. Thankfully, I wasn’t here to see his temper tantrum. So, unfortunately, we are down one very tall, large, shelf that I used to store my craft, scrapbook and office supplies in. Needless to say, I am incredibly frustrated over it all.

Tonight, as I look around, I know that I am very blessed. I feel it within my heart and my soul. When we knew what we had to do, I placed my faith firmly in His hands. After doing so, the blessings began to appear and things all fell into place. It is by His grace that we are where we are. I strongly believe that, with my whole heart. I am so thankful for the many blessings that He has given to us. I have two little girls who are safely tucked into their bed in a tiny little room. I have three little boys who are also safely tucked in and snoring quite loudly. Sleeping behind me, I have a loving husband who has and will continue to do what needs to be done in order to keep his family happy, healthy, safe and together. Scattered around the house, we have every one of our family pets all together again, including black jack who is sleeping peacefully while laying on my right wrist. All of us are safe inside the house He provided us with. A house we can now make our home. We are blessed with family who have willingly come to help us, including my father and mother in-law, who have called each and every day wanting to help. We are blessed to have some of the best friends ever! For the past week, they have helped us transport our life from one place to another and have just left to go home and lay their heads down to get some much needed rest. And let us not forget each and every person who has talked with us, cried with us, prayed for us, thought of us, or helped us in one way or another. We thank each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts. It has been a difficult ride, but has been bearable because we knew we were in the thoughts and prayers of so many, as well as in His hands.

Count your blessings, my friends. Just look around, you will find them. And when you are done, remember to look up and thank Him for the many blessings you have been given.

Much love,
B

excellent outlook. I am glad to hear that the kids are settling in. Sounds like you guys are getting all set up. Moving can be disturbing in all different ways but you are in the home stretch here and hopefully it will all be over soon and you will just feel like you are home!
