Getting back in the groove & Five weeks post op

**Long Update**

It's been tough to get back into the groove here in our house. Tim's been laid off the last 3 of 4 weeks. While it's fantastic having him here to help out, it's also put a slight crimp in my schedule. Today, Tim returned to work. That means getting back into our little routine while daddy is at work.

Today, we started our major overhaul. We started in the girls bedroom. We went through every single toy that they had and eliminated at least half of them. Anything broken went to the trash. Anything useable went to freecycle. We reduced the stuffed animal and baby doll stash and put all of their ity bity toys into a basket to keep out of reach of Jonathon. Their room is clean and it feels sooooooo good. I, however, do not. I knew I would end up overdoing it...and I did. So, as soon as the pain med kicks in, I'm headed to bed.

We sorted out an entire box of "Jonathon" toys and made them easily accessible to him in the livingroom. He hasn't found his goodies yet. Instead, he found his sisters' clean bedroom. He didn't know what to do with all of that room!!

The livingroom needs to be decluttered (as does most of the rest of the house). I figure I will try to tackle one major hurdle every few days. Tomorrow is paperwork. I have a habit (perhaps passed down from my mother) of stacking papers on top of papers until the stack falls over. Yes I own a filing cabinet. No, I don't use it! This drives Tim nuts but I don't see him jumping up to file papers. So, they sit! (or shall I say, they stack)

Jacob was such a helper tonight. He cooked dinner for us all by himself. He knew I was busy and instead of pestering me to cook, he took it upon himself to do it. He cooked cheeseburgers, fried potatos, mushrooms and corn. That kid is going to make someone very happy with his cooking skills. He must pay attention because for a ten year old, he can sure whip up a delicious meal. He even took care of the clean dishes after he started dinner. I can't tell you how good it feels to see him multi-tasking as well as being so responsible for his age. Even when he drives me bonkers, he still knows how to melt my heart!

Speaking of the kids, I can't remember what I shared about their recent appointments and what I didn't. I'll try to do a quick list. (lets see if I remember it all correctly)

Jacob: He was 80.5 pounds and 55 inches. He measured in the 50% for height & weight. We discussed some things, are trying a new medication (which will take some time to work) and he is growing nicely (and quickly). He is to return for another appointment in a week or so. (Which reminds me, I need to look for the date)

Austin: He was 48.4 pounds and 47 1/2 inches. He was in the 25% for both height & weight. He has two moles we will watch but at this time, they appear to be okay. He too is growing nicely (and quickly).

Katelyn: She was 38 pounds and 43 inches. She was 25% for both height and weight. She is being referred to a urologist to find out what is going on with her urgency & frequency issues. She can't seem to stay completely dry. I don't mean that she wets alot but she leaks all the time. Her panties are urine stained almost every day. Usually, when she has to go, she drops to her knees and holds herself as she chirps "Potty". It's not normal. She wasn't like that before. So, they plan to send her in to see what is going on.

Emilee: She was 35 pounds and 40 inches. Just three pounds/inches less than her sister. She was in the 50% for both, I believe he said. She is growing well but does have a mark on her ring finger of her left hand. It's not in a common spot for a mole nor does it have the circular shape of a mole. It actually is in the shape of a triangle. It's pretty cool looking. She's had it since she was an infant and when we pointed it out to her ped back then, they told us it was from a marker. We didn't believe it was (as she was quite young to be coloring) but watched it. Since then, it's gotten a bit larger and it certainly hasn't gone away as a marker spot would have. The doctor told us that typically, moles do not grow on the palms of your hands (or underside of fingers/toes) or the soles of your feet. He is sending her to a dermatologist to have them look at this and decide what they think about it.

Jonathon: He was 23.2 pounds and 30 3/4 inches. He is growing along the 25% for both height and weight. He received immunizations (yeowch) and of course, cried. He then spiked a fever for 2 days following. The poor lil guy. He is to return at the beginning of August I believe for another check up. (Also reminds me to call to set the appointment)

Tim: Went for his annual physical. He was in great health. He was commended for the progress on his weight loss. So far, he's lost 20 pounds and about 3 pant sizes. He is doing very well. He has an order to go have his regular blood work done. Since he hates needles, I'm curious to see how long he'll put it off. (Reminder to get him in for the lab work).

Me: I'm doing well. Tomorrow (well, today...as I won't have this posted before it's midnight) will mark 5 weeks post op. It doesn't seem possible. I've officially "missed" one, almost two periods. I have to tell you, I am quite thrilled. First, I wasn't worried that I was pregnant. I wasn't wondering when/if I would start. I wasn't dreading the horrible pain that it would bring. And I wasn't going to have to spend a dime on feminine products. Woo Hoo. So far, everything is healing well. I still feel that pain in my abdomen (mid-lower) if I overdo it. The bladder issues are 100 times better. I still catch myself crossing my legs when I sneeze though. The difference is that I no longer need to. I do have some urgency but the doctor said that will fade over the next few weeks. I can hold urine longer than I used to be able to. All in all, the bladder sling was a success. I'm soooo very thankful for that. I'm also very thankful that relations are a success post-op as well. It's nice to know that things still work. I do need to speak to the doctor though because the sling is causing some discomfort for him and can be felt during relations. I'm not sure if that's something that will be permanent or will go away with time. I hope it's the later. At least I'm not a tinkling machine anymore! I've also noticed that I don't get that majorly bloated feeling as I would prior to a period. I don't have to worry about having special panties for certain weeks. I don't have to make sure I have pants a size too big incase I bloat too much. And for all of those things, I am so very thankful.

I hope you are all enjoying your summer so far. Ours has been going well. We're looking forward to a quick vacation camping with the kids and our friends soon. The boys are all signed up for football. Austin starts his practices July 30th. In another month, I'll be back to school trying to 4.0 my classes!! I can't believe how quickly time passes.

I'm headed to bed now. Until next time...
