Happy 6th Birthday Katelyn Rebekah!

My beautiful daughter,

What a blessing you have been to us. Just six short years ago, we welcomed you into our family. You were a miracle! All four pounds six ounces. You were so tiny, yet so perfect. You were a fighter, even when breathing seemed to be impossible. And here you are, six years later, still as perfect as ever!

I see your fighting spirit continued on within you after your release from the RNICU. You refuse to let anyone push you over without putting up resistence. That is the spirit that brought you into this world. For if you had no fighting spirit, we surly would have lost you due to all of the complications we faced. Perhaps your in utero name of Rebekah Faith had something to do with it as well. For there were many times where we had nothing more other than Faith to keep pushing forth, just as you did.

You have started requesting more girl items like purses and dresses and less "tom boy" items. You still have a perfect blend of both, which pleases both mommy & daddy's hearts. This weekend, when you told me that you needed that flashy, little, red purse that matched those sparkly red shoes, I saw the little lady in you emerge even more.

This year, you will begin the 1st grade. I know you will do a great job. Especially after you had such an exceptional teacher last year to guide you. I know you are worried about having a different teacher. Be patient, sweetie. Everything will go perfectly for you.

You are now tucked safely inside your bed, snuggled up with your softy. What things race through your mind, I do not know. The one thing I do know is how very much you are loved by Mommy and Daddy. You are precious, my dear child. You are so loved. And we are so proud of you.

Happy 6th Birthday, sweetie.

Love, Momma

Happy Birthday to Katelyn! She was the child that I was always tempted to take home with me at the end of the day. She is such a sweet and loving child. Tell her that everything will be great at school and that she can stop by for a birthday hug anytime!
