Yesterday, Jonathon had a small birthday celebration with Tim's parents and his "Aunt & Uncle". Everything went well until about 20 minutes after everyone left. And then, he started vomiting again. After six days, it started to become alarming.
Even though I woke up feeling under the weather myself, I loaded him up and headed out to the ER. What a zoo!. We arrived and were checked in about 7:00PM. We then went to sit in the childrens area. Both waiting areas were full. We even ran into another family from town who had a little one that was very sick with the flu too. About 2 1/2 hours later, we were called back to a room. During his stay, he had a chest xray, a cath urine sample and an RSV swab. All came back negative. He was very dehydrated yet they couldn't get an IV or labs on him due to him being so combative. They said it was due to the dehydration. I have never seen him be like he was last night. I was already exhausted and not feeling well and this just made it worse. Honestly, the only thing that saved me was having Jacob along with me. Jonathon wanted to be in Jacob's arms all the time. Jacob crawled into bed with him and they both finally drifted off to sleep about 1AM.
Jonathon was given zofran when we arrived to combat the vomiting. While there, we were able to get him to take a bit of juice and some popcicles. This was good.
I was then given the option of taking him home to watch him or to keep him there. I chose to bring him home. We left for home at 2AM.
Today, I am exhausted! Seven hours in the germ-infested ER was more than long enough!
