There are dozens of answers to this question but for me, two things I consider to be "hard work" are Marriage & Parenting.
A healthy, strong, happy marriage isn't something that just happens after you've said your vows. It takes work, each and every day, to sustain a marriage. Being that we married young, we have seen through the years many of our friends marry and then divorce a few years later. Out of all the marriages we have witnessed, ten years later, all but two have divorced.
Parenting is also 'hard work.' That is, if you want to raise respectable, reliable, well-rounded members of society. Look around you. How many young people do you see in trouble? How many of those young people are receiving good parenting? While parenting is hard work, it is the most profitable work (not financially) I've ever done.
HARD WORK = doing daycare at home when hubby worked the night shift! Keeping many lil ones entertained and quiet in a very small house at the time - STRESSFUL!
HARD WORK = anything physically labor extensive in the extreme heat and humidity! I will admit, heat changes my mood, and not for the better!
oh, i agree with you - becky! that was exactly what came to mind. being a wife (husband, too) and being a parent. the two hardest jobs in the world!
